Fillets and reinforcements

Since the bulkheads and the hull planks are joined together, now it's time to reinforce the inside part before turnnig the hull upside down. It's done by adding fillets of epoxy and flox on the inside corners and then adding one or more layers of fiberglass strips. The strips were cut in a way to make the fibers in a 45° angle, to increase shear stress resistance.

  3. Hi,
What happened to your build mate?
Am preparing to build a 550 myself and have been planning to go same way as you with foam core rather than plywood.
Would love to hear your experiences.
    Kind regards

  4. Hi

The build is going, quite slow, but still going. Soon i will post some news.

Good luck with your boat! Until now, we do not regret about choosing the foam, we are expecting a great result. And the epoxy work is not that difficult.

If you got any questions we would be happy to help. You can contact me (arthursvidzinski(at)gmail.com) or my friend Bruno for more technical questions.

    Good luck!

    Arthur
